TalkTools Oral Placement Therapy
I have completed Level a 1 and 2 training in TalkTools® Oral Placement Therapy, building on the foundational Level 1 assessment and tool-hierarchy skills with more advanced clinical work in feeding therapy, sensory regulation, motor speech disorders, and orofacial myology. This progression reflects not just coursework, but a required period of applied clinical practice with the Level 1 material before advancing meaning this training is grounded in hands-on experience, not classroom learning alone.
Developed by speech-language pathologist Sara Rosenfeld-Johnson, OPT uses a structured hierarchy of hands-on tools bite blocks, horns, straws, and tactile cues to give children a tactile and proprioceptive layer of feedback alongside traditional auditory and visual speech instruction. This training qualifies him to assess oral-motor strength, control, and awareness, and to design individualized, hierarchy-based therapy plans supporting speech clarity, feeding skills, and safe swallowing in children with apraxia, low muscle tone, autism, and other developmental and sensory-motor needs.
